Publication Ethics Guidelines
The publication of articles in JISAB represents an essential component in the development of a coherent and respected academic knowledge network. It reflects the quality of the authors’ work and the institutions supporting them. Peer-reviewed articles contribute to the advancement of knowledge and uphold scientific standards. Therefore, it is important to establish and follow ethical standards expected from all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, journal editors, reviewers, publishers, and the academic community.
The Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Study Program, Faculty of Da’wah, Universitas Islam KH. Achmad Muzakki Syah, is responsible for overseeing all stages of publication with integrity and professionalism while recognizing its ethical and other responsibilities. The institution is committed to ensuring that advertisements, reprints, and other commercial activities do not influence or affect editorial decisions. The institution also supports communication with journal managers and/or other publishers whenever necessary.
Publication Decisions
The editors of JISAB are responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published. The validation of the research and its significance for researchers and readers must always guide editorial decisions. Editors may follow the policies of the journal’s editorial board and are bound by applicable legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editors may consult with other editors or reviewers in making publication decisions.
Fair Treatment
Editors evaluate manuscripts based on their intellectual content without discrimination regarding race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic background, nationality, or political philosophy of the authors.
Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the authors, editorial board members, reviewers, and publishers.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts must not be used by editors for their own research purposes without explicit written permission from the authors.
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions and, through communication with authors, helps improve the quality of manuscripts submitted for publication.
Timeliness
Any reviewer who feels unqualified to evaluate a submitted manuscript or realizes that they cannot complete the review process within the required timeframe must notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.
Reviewer Confidentiality
Every manuscript received for review must be treated as a confidential document. The manuscript must not be shown or discussed with others unless authorized by the editor.
Standards of Objectivity
Reviews must be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their opinions clearly and provide supporting arguments based on academic considerations.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, argument, or idea has been previously reported must be supported by appropriate citations. Reviewers should also inform the editor of any similarity or overlap between the reviewed manuscript and previously published works.
Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest
Confidential information or ideas obtained through peer review must remain confidential and must not be used for personal benefit. Reviewers must not evaluate manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors, institutions, or organizations associated with the manuscript.
Reporting Standards
Authors must present accurate reports of their research and provide objective discussions regarding the significance of their findings. Research data must be presented accurately in the manuscript. A paper should contain sufficient details and references to allow others to replicate the research. Fraudulent or intentionally inaccurate statements are considered unethical and unacceptable behavior.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their submitted work is entirely original and properly cite all sources when using the works and/or ideas of others.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously is considered unethical and unacceptable.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be provided. Authors should cite publications that have significantly influenced the research and contributed to the development of the reported work.
Authorship of the Article
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, implementation, or interpretation of the reported research. All individuals who contributed substantially should be listed as co-authors. Other contributors involved in important aspects of the research project should be acknowledged as contributors.
The corresponding author must ensure that all appropriate co-authors are included, that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript, and that they agree with its submission for publication.
Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
All authors must disclose any financial or substantive conflicts of interest that may influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the research project must also be disclosed.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is the author’s responsibility to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the article.
